About Core Competencies
This module is designed to get you acquainted with the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada: Release 1.0.
Whether you are looking at these competencies as an individual practitioner or as a team manager, they can help you:
- Understand the basic knowledge, skills and attitudes you require to fulfill your role in public health;
- Provide consistent job descriptions and performance assessments, whether you are hiring or interested in your own career development;
- Identify and justify professional development needs for yourself and your team;
- Work more effectively as part of, or in the development of, a public health team; and
- Support the development and understanding of discipline- and program-specific sets of competencies.
